Equestrian Ranch and residence in Tucson
Cloud base ranch is a 26 horse boarding and training facility located at the base of the Rincon mountains in Tucson, Arizona.
This project's focus was to enhance the exterior landscape and design continuity. Large raised planting beds were designed & built with local rock, to feature the owner's passion for specimen cacti. The planters add an intimacy to each space. The beds were also created to mitigate the bountiful waters that the summer monsoon rains can bring.
A wall of sliding glass doors were added to the great room to invite the landscape inside and provide for a living space open to the gardens. The covered porch support posts were removed and spanned with a steel I beam to maximize the view east. Travertine pavers create the flow through the various patio areas.
Large antique iron gates designate and formalize the house entry. Extensive low voltage exterior lighting was installed for safety and comfortable evening entertainment.
Cloud base is a lovely place for the owner's family: that can also accommodate a hundred plus people for fiestas and fund raising events.
